Ferret Master
Hi, Before you start hunting you need to become very accurate because you should not be wounding quarry. You gun is spring powered so it will not respond well to being directly rested on something. The only way to get accuracy is to put in long hours of practice I'm afraid. kwiky
im most accurate when doing kneeling shots, i often shoot live quarry from all stances (prone, standing, kneeling, sitting and standing on my head ) but if i can i drop to a kneeling shot cos im that bit more comfortable and therefor accurate, basically i'll be on one knee with my leading elbow resting on the other knee, this takes the weight of the rifle but still lets it recoil properly. also sitting on you **** with your legs bent and arms on your knees is another good stance, try to look at pics of other shooters and copy their stances then practice, practice and once your good, practice some more. hope this helps. RoBBo
has anybody here actually ever owned a gamo cfx , if so what did you think of it and what pellets were best for that rifle
flash
after you have the accuracy part sorted on paper targets a good step before live quarry are things like knock down targets, so you can actually see when u hit the kill zone, you can get ones where the head knocks back when direactly hit or a kill zone on the main organs. good luck with the rifle and remember that practice makes perfect. cheers flash
One Shot
Friend of mine who is the other hearse driver at work (i'm the second of two) used to be a Royal Marine Commando weapons specialist and he always says "practice, practice, practice, then practice some more. When you have had enough practice, take a break and maybe do a bit of practice. Simple as that" I have learnt a lot from him, and am still learning. Hope this helps? henry d
Robbo - once you can hit the dart board 100 out of 100 times then you can try a paper target. If you can`t hit a 1-2" target 9/10 times at 25-30 m then stick to inanimate things
kwiky
robb i reckon you'll not be able to put your new gun down and you'll get better soon enough, everyone's gotta start somewhere mate
dr_nick
Agreed. There is nothing better than doing it right, especially after a long wait, lots of practice lots of effort and training. On the other hand there is nothing worse than doing it wrong and watching a quarry suffer because of your lack of skill or ineptitude. If it runs off in a bush with a gut wound it might suffer for hours or days, not a nice thought. Edited May 5, 2006 by dr_nick
