ME
I am on the hunt for a Range Rover Sport TDV8 3.6. Yes, it's not "macho" like a Defender, and it is the Wag weapon of choice down the streets of Essex. It does however have a lot of qualities that I want, and they are holding their money well. Anyone had any experience of them on here?
Bigweed
Got a TDV6 HSE 3.0 - love it and had no problems with it all

I used to run a car valeting company and it put me off black cars for life! No worries, good luck hunting! They are lovely cars, I did the RR off road day course with my brother in law when he bought his and they are very able cars both on and off road. Thelongwayup
My shooting mate works for a LR dealership and put me off buying one when we were looking last year. Electric handbrakes locking on resulting in a £4k bill to sort it out Refusing to start with no obvious cause, Audio refusing to work, again a hefty bill to sort, Failing suspension Oil leaks Turbo failure front diff issues (big problem that one on a lot of cars) Steering wheel tilt mech fails Massive terminal gearbox failures The list goes on and on. LOADS of problems. I would seriously look at something else. A comment one customer made to him was that his RRS was 50/50 ownership. He had it 50% of the time and LR had it 50% of the time fixing the thing. Yes they look bang on and really nice but when you are parting with £60k+ of your hard earned for something that is truly terrible on reliability and even worse customer service, something's wrong. LR don't want to know once they have your money.

Think he's over reacting a bit there....seeing a problem on one car isn't going to mean every one will have it, I havent heard of a diff failure yet.... The rrs are basically disco3's with a different body so are great offroad and really good on road.... A friend has a 3.6TDV8 and it's a joy to drive although the boot on the discovery is about twice the size and the interior is bigger, I also thing they wouldn't wear or withstand bumps and scrapes in the field as well as a disco... Regards, Gixer
Dunkield
A friend of mine had the exact model you desire, he sold it after a year but absolutely loved it. Had no problems with it at all, not one. It went down to France fully loaded with the family and to Scotland fully loaded with us lot, it was looked after but it certainly wasn't wrapped in cotton wool. We did get it stuck once, but in fairness it had road tyres and that was a deceptively boggy field (and it dragged itself out eventually) Incidentally they are more economical than the V6, we know this as another mate of ours has one of those... Regards, Gixer I wouldn't say he was over reacting more explaining the problems on some of the motors they get coming in. What you never really get to hear about though is the thousands of content owners who do indeed have a very reliable motor. Same as on most review sites, you get to hear about the problem motors far more than the happy ones. I still think they do look a fantastic car though. ME
http://www.rrsport.co.uk/forum/topic23925.html try here Just been to see that one. It is very local to me and we are still at the "bottom sniffing" stage of negotiations.
Dunkield
Not that I would ever buy one - but if I did, two things I would never have on them, side steps and blacked out rear glass.

Indeed, the side steps would be on Ebay straight away and the chrome side mirror covers B)
NickP
Nice cars, newer ones with the 3.0 And facelift interior are very nice Try contacting the RRSport forums sponsor ,Lookers, he might have One depending on how old a car your looking at, especially with all the trade in's for the Evoque recently I bought my car from them, worth driving down from leeds to collect it, I know people who have driven from Scotland for the deals he can put together, ask for James or Jeremy
Cosd
My brother in law was at a launch for the Evoque, was going to order one to replace his missus Range Rover sport. He ended up ordering another Sport instead.
Guest Mr Pieman
There is a survey that Top Gear runs each year (forget the name) and RR Sport is regularly mentioned as being poor with reliability and big ongarage time. petrol_head29
these cars dont just look the part but are also an amazing feat of technology as anyone who has attended a landrover experians day in one and who has used one off road will tell you! and the new 3.0 certainly shifts for a car of that size, and for a good gettaway at the ights just flick it into sand mode and the car remaps its eingine for maximum power and makes a huge diferance as you can do this why driving and overtaking to! Dirty Harry
My mate has the 4.2v8 supercharged version. Nice motor but gets 25mpg on a motorway run and much less about town.
