coyotemaster
Results of one of the successful dove hunts in early September, we had a wheat field recently disced and full of hungry doves. We employed clip on Dove decoys on an artificial sitty tree and 2 MOJO doves on the ground. I shot about 80 the first week of season before the temps dropped and they left. We are now waiting for some more cold to drive the northern birds down.
Hamster
That all sounds so different from our decoying , it`d be great to see a picture of your decoys/patterns and set up if you ever get the chance. Do you eat the doves over there?

Hamster
Is that Catamong's long lost US cousin? :yp: That`s a retriever, Cat`s more like a Weimaraner I think . I know what you mean though, it`s a bit uncanny.

coyotemaster
Thanks guys, I will try to remember the camera when I go afield. We most definetly eat those doves, I filet the breast out and my wife bastes and pops them in the broiler for a few minutes. Very good eating, though not much of it.As you can see it is full dark, I had to wait for my camera person to get home to snap pics as Oscar(lab) and I had previously had a heated argument over who would snap the pics and who would be in them. He is always adamant about getting recognition!! I forgot to add the daily limit is 15 birds so we eat a mess and go the next day for more

Bluestem
Good shooting CM. Are you all starting to see the Eurasian Collared Doves in IL? They seem to be moving in all around us in NE. Except they appear to like it near towns....keeping them away from my shotgun.

Evidently they don't go out into the countryside where I shoot either. I have a couple pair in the neighborhood and I have been tempted to taste one.
