Redditch
Yeah, was just going down to my permission (Only 89 acres) and noticed the other famer was in font of me driving upto his hose (Adjoining farm, his house though is on the same lane that leads to my permission). He is normally never in and always floating about somewhere on his farm, so I thought this would be an ideal time to have a chat with him. So I followed his car upto his back door, and got out and had a chat. Seems he hasn´t got much problem with foxes (My permission I still have two to remove that are taking chickens), but he does have a lot of problems with pigeons and crows/magpies. Anyway, to cut a long story short, I gave him a copy of the BASC.NI/UFU agreement, an done of my cards, and now have an extra 250 acres permission. Well chuffed

Cannon
did the basc ufu come to anything.i heard about it a year or so back when it was supposed to be in the planning. good to get a few more acres lol. i can`t find time to get out at all. I joined this scheme in early August but it wasn't to go live until the end of August/September. The scheme has been live for nearly 3 weeks now and still no phone calls. Last time I checked there were only 33 registered shooters signed up for it. Let's say since then this number has tripled. I'd be fairly confident that there are more than 99 farms over here in need of assistance when it comes to vermin control. Even told them my speciality was feral pigeon infestations in barns etc. Love that kind of shooting when I can get it. Anyways I'll bide my time and hopefully get a phone call or two from farmers complaining about pigeons crapping on their heffers
the enigma
Well done on getting your new permission, that's a fair chunk of land you have now. I hadn't heard anything about the BASC/UFU scheme, but it sounds like a good idea. A lot of the time when a farmer gives a shooter permission,it's just so they can get their FAC and after that you never hear tell of them again. At least this scheme can put you in touch with someone who's serious about their shooting.
