Spiderdude
Can someone give me some pointers on what I need to do to remove the firing mechanism from my Silver Pig? I'm wanting to get the stock sent away for refinishing & obviously need to remove this. Thanks in advance.
Gordon R
Use a cross headed screwdriver to undo the screws holding the recoil pad or butt plate on. If it is a recoil pad, stick the screwdriver through the pad - you will be able to see two slits in the rubber. You can actually feel when the screwdriver locates in the screw. Remove both screws. You will then need a longish allen key or a hex bit on the end of a long screwdriver. The type which you can slot various bits in. Undo the stock bolt which runs from the action towards the butt. Once the bolt is out - hold the action in one hand and tap the pistol grip with the other. The stock and action should then come apart. welshwarrior
If you find it hard to part the action from the stock put the stock bolt back in a couple of threads and GENTLE tap the screw driver handle this should just loosen it enough to slide them apart. Don't hit it hard.

Don't hit it hard. Wise words, Sorry Gordon but never never ever hit the stock. Place the stock in the vice protected by your "corks" and as WW says tap the bolt.
