cant hit rabbits 123
If I could get to Essex regularly, I'd come down to help out, but unfortunately I cant. However, I have an idea for you! If you have a scout group near you, you could ask the leaders if they wanted to help out and open the club up to the local scouts too. All leaders are CRB'd as a matter of course. I know my fellow leaders and I here in liecestershire would at the very least set up a rota between them and help with lugging things about, setting up etc.

bakerboy
The PW crew have really come up trumps with supporting "oddjob" Neal with his fantastic scheme. Who would have thought that there were/are so many really generous people out there, when normally you just hear the worse of everything, give yourselves a good slap on the back. LRXS
Were you the group at Fennes on 3rd Oct from about 11:00 to 14:00 ish, silver mini-bus? If so, I saw you there! Blimey, that was a lot of kids! I don't understand children at all, in fact they freak me out, but from what I could tell they did seem to be having a good time and some were really into it. And the group was well managed by the "handlers" and coaches, now there's a job I would not relish. You weren't the guy at the rear of the group by the footpath, short dark hair, kinda keeping an eye on things? Anyway, good job to all involved and a donation is due - I'll be in touch. Just an idea... Tracey and Sarah(s) have a couple of collection tins by the till. I, and a number of people, often say, "put the change in the BASC tin" when we settle our bill. I wouldn't want to do BASC or air ambulance out of a bit of cash but this is a good cause too - would it be worth suggesting a collection tin for this as well? It would certainly get my support. OddJob
Yep that was us! I lack any hair, I floated around from the front to the back at that point, wearing shorts and a brown skeet vest, instructing in the first stand past the skeet. It was a busy day hence how grateful I've been for people offering help. Come and say hi to Terry and I if you are up there on the 5th nov. I'll speak to Tracy but as you say, I'd hate other good causes suffering as well
HDAV
The tin isn't a bad idea, but you know at super markets they have the pet food collection points how about a similar thing for carts? Must be loads of people with odd boxes of carts for guns they no longer own or use .410/28/20 etc?
Chazzmeister
This is really good to see. Shooting gets so much bad press that something positive is to everyone's benefit I wonder if it might be worth approaching Sporting Gun / Shooting Gazette etc? They'd get a good article out of it and you might be able to use the extra publicity to persuade a sponsor... If you ever get the feeling that you'd like to come and see what we get up to at the Norfolk flushes (that Alan 'hitclays' sets up and runs) I'll be pleased to find a spare box of shells and spend some time with you and your crew. I don't think I'll be the only one either - we've some big hearted shooters up here. Most of us are ugly as sin but shiny on the inside! Keep up the good work - I work with disadvantaged inner city children introducing them to the countryside in the Norfolk Broads and know how challenging and rewarding it is
OddJob
I just wanted to give public thanks because people have been really kind to this project. They are: Hitclays for the cash donation Bluebarrels for chucking 5 pairs of ear defenders no less! LRXS for the cash for those who cannot afford to shoot. tarn2215 for offering us lots of things and coming along to see us. There was also £20 that someone passed Terry as well, thank you to you. If I've missed anyone, I am sorry. It's be a crazy work week and I've lost count with all the kind people chucking me money and offering help. PW is a genuinely wonderful community. Whitebridges
What a fantastic response, totally unbelievable. Pigeon Watch has exceeded it best by a country mile, and in doing so will help a group of kids better themselves. Just a little story from yesterday. I was in the cage with a lad and when he took his first shot he broke the clay, I said "come on smile" he had a little grin on his face, but said I don't like to smile, after hitting about 6/7 of his 10 targets he said as he left the cage "with a big smile on his face" "I can't stop now". Those few minutes raised this lads self esteem a long way. Best twenty notes i've ever spent. Thanks to you guy's for getting these youngster interested and pro our sport.
