adam f
Quick question - can the lightforce 140 or 170 be switched from handheld to scope mounted? I do both in equal amounts, and dont want to buy 2 lamps! Cheers
al4x
you can quite easily hold the scope mounted one, but beware mounting on a scope is pretty dubious effectiveness wise you either get glare the beam in the wrong place etc etc, far easier to have someone with you to control it. adam f
But are they inter changable or are they just 2 seperate lights? Ive got a DIY scope mounted one at the moment, but its just so heavy!
pavman
you can get a handle for the lamp mounted which makes it a hand held so yes you can (i have two) ref scope mounted I do a lot of lone shooting on sit outs and found a way round mod glare and to be honest i prefer it to having a lamp man on sit outs, all of my foxing is either me alone our with a driver never 3 people. I use an intercom between driver and rifleman and this works fab, once spotted i give the driver a ref point such as fox at 2 o clock 200 yards etc. I have a gimble mounted 240 blitzs for the driver so in effect he is the lamp man on a drive round. If we get a lamp shy come in i have NV and tend to catch them on a sit out....... mind you i have a vixen i have been trying to get for a long while on at least 10 sit outs with NV baited her and all the norm tricks in fact was out again last nite she is in the maize so we will catch her out when we cut or she will slip up :yp:
Davy Holt
Hiya, when I got my 170 a few weeks ago i got a detachable scope mount with it that screws into the base of the hand held lamp. It's great, quarter of a turn of an Allen key gives you either a hand held lamp or a scope mounted lamp.. sorted If you want a pic of the mount let me know
adam f
That sounds perfect Davy - yes a piccy would be great. Where did you get the lamp from? Ive not seen them advertised with the extra attachment?
Davy Holt
Hi Adam, I got mine from a local gun shop, it's a purpose made mount for the Lightforce.. I can find out if he has more of them.
adam f
Thanks Davy, how stable is it? It looks as though the lamp it quite a way above the scope? As opposed to the proper scope jobbie I guess I want the best of both worlds!

It's rock solid and takes a bit of moving when you have nipped up the Allen screw, to be honest that is it's only drawback but I'm going to cut down Allen key and tack it to the bolt permanently to make it more user friendly. it sits a fair bit higher than the normal mount which helps solve another issue I had .. glare off the lamp on the scope.. I dont get it now

alexisdev
Hi Adam, I got mine from a local gun shop, it's a purpose made mount for the Lightforce.. I can find out if he has more of them. Hi Davy, I have a handheld lightforce just the same as yours and I want to attach it on to my scope. And the way you did it seems to be really great ! So I wonder if you could help me ? Do you know the name or the reference of the screw and the part you put on the scope ? Because i was looking on the net a solution to fix my lamp on to my scope and you seemed to be the only one who find something to do it. Thank you for your help Alexis
