dave1992
Hi, dont post here otften but here goes I recentlt come into some permisson for pretty much any pest species, and was looking to get my FAC i was wondering how difficult it is to actually get one, i live in the westmidlands but the permission is on land near to much wenlock. I have heard that some counties have differing policies on what you can do and where you can do it, Im looking at shooting some bunnies and maybe foxes if the need arises and any other pest species that need controlling, Any help? Billy.
Shouldn't be too difficult, although Foxes and .22LRs are a different matter altogether. If you're just after a .22, don't mention foxes If you've got the land and you believe that it'd pass an inspection (to do with safe backstops and other risks - not size!) then you should be fine. IMHO, a .22LR is a great rifle to have as a first FAC gun. I'm sure the HMR brigade will be along soon though Edited October 7, 2011 by Billy. cleaner4hire
west mercia (i assume that will be your licensing force) condition 17HMR for fox. That may be a better choice for your circumstances. The actual process is not difficult, just be honest on your application and declare everything that may be relevant and you shouldnt have a problem. Also be aware that West Mercia are notoriously slow with regards firearms paperwork!!!

Ive got my SC and have only really just been able to use it, and should have really applied for my FAC at the same time as i work on a fishery with cormorants could of got some more permission at work then if they knew i was competant
artschool
first thing to do check the land is cleared for 22. it will make the process much easier. you also need written permission, use the basc standard letter. after that it's just a matter of filling in the paperwork. oh and also try to get some experience with a 22 before you apply or you will get a ,entering condition. stubby
as i work on a fishery with cormorants could of got some more permission at work then if they knew i was competant seems not that competant, otherwise you'd have known that although classed as a pest species, comerants can only be shot under a special license from DEFRA, after showing that all other measures had been exhausted to remove them before shooting

Harnser
If you fit the criteria to own firearms then you will have no problems . A person of good character ,a need for the guns ,a place to shoot the gun being a gun club or approved farm land . Harnser .
