TX200

I have an early TX 200 but was thinking of changing the spring with a tx200 mk3 one. Simple question will it fit? It isn't the original spring in my rifle atm so I cannot make a comparison.

Cheers

Please note in your replies that I'm a complete biff when it comes to these things and blank stares will be used at anything too technical.

Having a bit of trouble sourcing it mole. As I said the one in there isn't the original and would love to get back to how it should be. Plenty out there for the mk2, mk3 and hc but nothing as yet for the tx200. I'll keep looking.

Cheers

The TX200 is a very efficient design, the earlier models easily make 12ft/lbs even with very very little spring preload. The MK3 has a different stroke length so the spring may not be suitable. I fitted a ProSport spring to my TX200 MK2, it was slightly shorter and stiffer. I made a Delrin replacement for the standard steel "top hat". To keep it below 12ft/lbs it has no spring spacers at all, and no spring preload to speak of ( just enough to stop the spring rattling ).

Unless you are prepared to modify other components and keep a very close eye on power, especially with ultralight pellets like Defiants, they I would advise you to get a standard spring. Before you fit it carefully polish the end faces, this will make the cocking and firing smoother. A small amount of gooey lube on the spring will help, there are special lubes available but I use a quick spray of Putoline anti-fling chain lube, works for me.

The TX200 is a bit front heavy, if you don't mind the extra weight you can usefully put a bit of lead in the back of the stock. It's a heavy rifle as standard, so beware this if you tire easily
