rubythedog
for some years now iv been really whanting the harkila pro suit but found it hard to dig that deep in to my pocket. in the mean time iv been through a couple of sealand suits wich serviced me ok but the stiching came away on both! id like some revews from people who have bought and test them and also a hint to were the cheapest deal will be found. kind rgs
WGD
If you mean the Pro Hunter suit, I have the coat but not the trousers. The coat is excellent, by far the best coat in my "collection" A little heavy for summer use but an excellent all rounder, hard wearing and 100% waterproof in even the most testing conditions (prone with elbows down in a boggy field trying to shoot a fox off the bipod). I have Seeland kit too and IMO the Harkila stuff is worth the extra money, it will outlast and outperform the Seeland stuff.
rubythedog
thank you wgd, really getting that urge to splurge! whats the best price on the full suit now? any ideas.
WGD
The suit is very rarely discounted in any retailers as it is so popular, at least I never see it in the sales! There are sometimes coats and trousers for sale on here, new with tags, for good prices or you could try ebay.
Beardo
i have the trousers - and agree with all WGD's comments - superb bits of kit, definitely winter wear though. keep an eye out on the forum - i picked my trousers up here for a really good deal. Gully
I have the suit too. Wore it all last week stalking in Scotland. The rain let off for a couple of hours during the week. I was very impressed with it, the only place I got damp was my lower back where while sitting on grass (bog) water leeched up the lining at the back. I did get a bit sweaty inside at one stage too. Very good piece of kit. Talking to others they had all got wet. I even found that by tightening the bottoms of the trousers over my boots really tight then wearing gaiters over the top I could get enough of a seal to be able to wade knee-thigh deep for a few minutes without the water getting into my boots. My only constructive criticism would be that the pockets need to be goretexed too as they get a bit wet in harsh weather but that may be me not closing them properly. Dunkield
I know but I think the JahtiJakt stuff Is awesome and worth a look I would tend to disagree it just isn't in the same league, but in it's favour it does cost half as much. roebuck270
Harkila Pro Hunter, what can i say Fantastic. I bought mine from bushwear. They did an offer if you bought the jacket and trousers they gave you the boots free, and seeing as the boots are getting on for £200 i looked into it, best buy i have made on a good jacket and trousers. cleaner4hire
The jacket is excellent; Mine is 2 years old and gets used all the time for everything from holidays to walking the dog to shooting and hasnt shown any signs of wear or a hint of leaking. It has plenty of pockets in the right places and is well worth the investment imo. I will say this though, it is relatively heavy and too warm for sunny days. I didnt like the trousers though, the legs were too narrow and I didnt find them comfortable. I ended up just getting a different set of trousers at a later date, which also spread the cost a bit!!! At the price of the pro hunter there is a hell of a lot of good kit around though... try some on if you can mate.
Dunkield
Much as I would like a £600 'hunting suit' I know full well what would happen the first time I went near a barbed wire fench with it
rimfire4969
I have the pro hunter jacket and on 30 years of shooting it's the best coat I have ever had.
J.C
I also have the jacket, can easily say it is by far the best jacket that I have owned. It's waterproof, hard wearing and also has five year warranty
