Just got back from the vets to have the yearly booster jabs done,Cost me £129 for the three of them which i thought was a bit steep gone up nearly £10 from last year the joys of having 3 dogs,Called a vet the other side of the road awho i would never use and they said £37 each.

So what are you paying around the country and who jabs there dogs?? I know people that never get them done but with the nature of what they do i could never take the chance

Had my ESS done last month, cost me £18.

My local vets (I can walk to them from home) wanted twice that. IMO its worth asking around, I am a tight Yorkshire-man but would never use someone just because they're cheap.

The vets we use is too far for you but anyone within easy driving distance of Chesterfield I couldn't reccomend Spire vets highly enough.

Can you buy the vaccinations online?

I have a mate thats a vet in scotland. He said he would do it for me when he's home for Hallowe'en, but that it'd be cheaper to get my local vet to do it than to get him to buy the vaccinations in scotland and administer for free- such is the price of vetinary stuff over the water.

It is very important to keep your boosters up to date. I have seen dogs die from both Lepto and Parvo two and three years after the last booster.

I can promise you that the vaccines cost vets more than some of the prices quoted in this thread. It's simple economics - they are trying to get you through the door. As a huge generalisation the cheap vaccines everything else will cost more. They will do their bit to sell you everything they possibly can and you'll be worse off at the end of the day.

What you need to do is find a vet you trust and are happy with. The vaccine may cost a few quid more but the honest decent vet will be there when you need them on a Sunday night with an emergency. It's no secret that the vaccine income supports the other services. Take that away and either the practice will go under or the prices will go up.

A lot of these cheap 'chain store' vets might give you a cheap booster but a cut pad out of hours will cost you hundreds of pounds. They more than get it back.
