Shogun SWB

It is pretty small, but it's bigger than the boot in a Mini! Unless you need to take four people you can always put stuff on the back seats, or flip them up completely, so I've never had a problem. How much do you want to fit in there?

The backrests of the back seats can tilt, so you can put them upright and then there's more room in the boot. But that's not very comfortable in the back seats if someone needs to sit there.

Potentially two dogs or, one dog and shooting kit. To be honest I was going to get a LWB, but the more I read the more I think a SWB will suit 90% of the time, but the sticking point is 'dog' room or a lack of.

It's tall but not very deep, so there's not that much floor area to put dogs on. It's definitely going to be too small for two dogs unless they're both Jack Russell size.

Ran my SWB Pajero into the ground. I abused it off road almost daily beyond belief and it just kept going. Awesome truck, **** boot space. I had the rear seats forward pretty much the whole time. Now got a Trooper SWB, 3.2 V6 petrol. Thirsty but mega robust and smoother for shooting than the diesel.

Well that's my two pence worth...

I've had the 2800 tdi S.W.B for 6 x years now and I absolutely bloo** love it. It will go anywhere a Land Rover will and a few it won't due to the Super Select gear box. :good:

There are two problems with it though.

1. It only does 22 mpg at its best....14 mpg at it worst.

2. Unless you take the seats out of the back then the boot space is not good at all.

The boot space is not great i think my old focus with the seats down was better. However we've had the LWB ones and they are great trucks. If your looking at getting one dont ignore the petrol they have some serious grunt and go well when you put your foot down, our petrol used to do about 20mpg and the diesel one only gets about 24mpg. An lpg kit on one would be very good if you can find a place to put the tank in the SWB.

My SWB Trooper 3.0 TD, 1999:

Boot depth with seats up, 630mm, folded flat 1300mm

Boot width 1300mm, height 1070mm

approx sizes, these are the smallest points, as its not a perfect square!

Does about 30mpg driving like a Nun, offroading/thrashing down to 15-20 or so

the commercial version might be the answer, only downside is no back seats but loads of room for gear and dogs and off road you can get a few people in the back as well
