Herts Mark
SGC holder with access to neighbours sXs. Saving for my first own gun and looking towards Silver Pigeon. Listening to some of the experienced guys i beat with, there seems to be a move towards 20g. Will mainly be walked up rough shooting, some game. Had 12g in mind but now confused. Some thoughts please? Mark
al4x
ignore them buy a 12, cheaper cartridges, higher availability of guns you can shoot anything with it and with heavier non toxic loads for ducks and geese etc a 20b doesn't cut the mustard. If you want to clay then its truly versatile, the only offset is a bit of weight to carry but personally i've never found it an issue
dougall
On balance I agree with ALex. My only caveat is I do think the SIlver pigeon 20bore is a fantastic gun and the slim beretta just looks right in 20........!! 1st gun best all round a 12b.At some point you will get a 20 to play with.. huffhuff
I have also noted the shift. I know a couple of guns that have started using their wives 20 bores... But, as above, the 12 will be more versatile and a better all-rounder!
super sharp shooter
I will never use the wife's knickers oops I meant to say 20 bore
chris t
I see lots of people out shooting game with a 20bore. I think if you do a lot of walking the saving in weight is often the main reason. Although just about all of them use a 28gram load in their 20bore. IMHO this must have a fair kick to it in a light gun. When alot of people will use the 28g in a 12bore. I will probably always stick with a 12bore, unless weight is your issue, I'd go for a 12 everytime.

jackinbox99
They may be using 20bores just for a change, or an extra challenge. I do the same sometimes with my .410`s, but always fall back on the 12bore. Id definately go for a 12 bore for all the reasons everyone else has said.
