SGC holder with access to neighbours sXs. Saving for my first own gun and looking towards Silver Pigeon.

Listening to some of the experienced guys i beat with, there seems to be a move towards 20g.

Will mainly be walked up rough shooting, some game. Had 12g in mind but now confused.

Some thoughts please?

Mark

ignore them buy a 12, cheaper cartridges, higher availability of guns you can shoot anything with it and with heavier non toxic loads for ducks and geese etc a 20b doesn't cut the mustard. If you want to clay then its truly versatile, the only offset is a bit of weight to carry but personally i've never found it an issue

I see lots of people out shooting game with a 20bore. I think if you do a lot of walking the saving in weight is often the main reason.

Although just about all of them use a 28gram load in their 20bore.

IMHO this must have a fair kick to it in a light gun. When alot of people will use the 28g in a 12bore.

I will probably always stick with a 12bore, unless weight is your issue, I'd go for a 12 everytime.

Hi Mark

Are you from Herts or live in Herts?

If so make contact with the Herts Social secretary huffhuff "Ben", meet us at a shoot and be able to try out differing guns until you find one you like.

And by the way all the advice given so far has been good :good::yes: , go for a 12g, and get a 20 at a later date

Guys,

what can i say - THANK YOU. Live near Hemel (literally 5 mins from Cupid Green Lane) and work in Stevenage.

Beat most Saturday's and any Wednesday's i have off but come seasons end will definitely make contact.

Forgot to mention that i am a dreaded left hooker but shouldn't have too much influence on my choice

cheers

M

Super sharp - almshoe?
