JDsniper
Can anybody tell me the approximate time for a renewal with west Mercia please
cleaner4hire
Well judging by variations at well over a month I would say get it in early and ask for a temporary one so you can buy ammo
awwintle
looking at some of the posts on another forum its not looking good some are waiting as long as 7-8 months,I was going to send mine in to ask for open ticket on my other 2 rifles but I might wait to the renewal in july, they cash your cheque within weeks though,1 person suggested to ask for a section 7 (i think)it basically covers you for keeping you rifles with out your fac & in some cases asking for this has promted the return of there fac, good luck keep us posted Andy

Dangerous Brian
Still waiting for my cert back from West Mercia. If I rememeber correctly I sent the renewal off in September. The FEO did the visit on the 5th October (nice chap) and said they had just hit a big spike in applications/ renewals. I think it had got so far out of hand that they were starting weekend working to try and get to people on the fringes of the force (massive area). How long have you been waiting? JDsniper
😱 o **** what dO you do when it expires then
Dangerous Brian
You are still legal whilst they process your renewal (mine expired in October). Problems arise when you need to buy shells or (if you are lucky enough) have money burning a hole in your pocket for a new gun. I think someone has already mentioned that you can get a temporary cert if you need to and this may give them the hurry up to get your ticket back to you. Could do with mine coming back soon as the ammo cabinet needs a bit of a refill. My Dad was told a few years back by the FEO to get someone else with a ticket to buy the shells for him. Makes a bit of a mockery of why we apply for a license in the first place to my mind though. Hope you get it back soon mate. JDsniper
Well heres one for you I got back from beating today to find a brown envelope . It was my renewal exactly 4 weeks . It had a note with it saying checks have been done so we can issue you a new s/g certificate . But it did have a note saying you will get a inspection so I must make my self available when requested. All good tho 👍 Edited November 11, 2011 by JayDJones
ozzy518
I have just had my SGC renewed. Had a call from the FEO who confirmed what guns I had, said to fill in the renewal form and send it in. One week later new SGC arrives. It looks like Suffolk and Norfolk Firearms depts have merged.
