Shotgunspud
Hi all, Just got back from a fantastic trip to Finland! It was very hard hunting with moose in almost every drive along with white tail! but the size of the areas we where hunting gave the upper hand the Moose! you would think something that size you would see with no problems, but at times the Moose where no more then 80feet from us and all you could hear was snapping of trees and branches! The trip as a whole was fantastic with the 6 of us laughing from the start to the end. The team bagged a moose and a jackal sorry no photo of jackal! This was the lunch hut in the middle of the forest I can only say this was one of the most existing hunting trips i have been on! just to be given the chance to hunt these animals! but to have them crashing around the woods in front of you knowing you may get the chance! well lets just say hair on neck on end.... We are planning more trip now driven boar next! we have invites to Denmark and Austria so am counting the days down now! And of-course back to Finland next year for more Moose action! docholiday
Well done sounds like you had a great trip, never shot one but have seen a few up there when we were rallying in finland, big old boys, used to be scared to death of running into one

Frenchieboy
I'm extremely envious of you Alex. It makes the few stalks and culls that I have been on sound quite tame! Thanks for sharing the experience!

Shotgunspud
Thanks for the comments lads! The trip was out of this world! I think you had to be there to understand it all!! But going all that way and not pulling the trigger everyday is something people may find hard to understand; but it was the chance of shooting something!!!! Moose / Boar / White tail / Linx / Jackal that kept you going and the noises of Moose crashing around the woods and then the silence and i mean silence!! the only noise was you breathing and then the sound of the dog way off in the distance! coming closer and closer! then going away again as the Moose played it's game! and the sound from the radios with the finish lads getting excited!!! Then that shot off in the distance and the sounds of Moose down Moose down!! The hunt was as a team! and when one person shot something it was as if you where the one that pulled the trigger, then drinks all round...... If you want that hardest of hunting experiences you must try it, you will not be let down! The lodge is fantastic... warm at all times with it's own sauna as well!! the hunting lunch cabin was warm which you needed trust me! it was full of Finish sausages and salted Roe!!! and the odd beer all put on for us. I run shoots as some of you may know! and i will say i learnt alot watching how the finish lads do things!! it's not all about the killing it's all about the hunting and friendliness they offer each hunter! I will say!! the 5 lads i went with also made the trip for me you couldn't of asked for better people to spend that time with! The 5 will know to the word what i am saying above!! Thanks SGS Edited November 11, 2011 by Shotgunspud

Vipa
How much does a trip like this cost? I'm trying to get a couple of mates to commit to a 'proper' hunting trip for my 50th (gives them 4 1/2 years to save up! ) Was thinking Alaska or Canada but the Nordic region appeals too!
