CZ550Kevlar
My car had a full service today Daihatsu Terios V reg and it came back with a fault code of 81, can anyone tell me what this means? kwik fit are as useful as a chocolate fireguard. Also they have quoted £224 for replacing the cambelt, doesn`t it sound abit expensive?
HDAV
Kwik fit!!! I would find a local daihatsu specialist and gave a chat I have paid over £600 for a cambelt but depends on the engine and what's involved Try here http://www.daihatsu-drivers.co.uk/ Edited November 12, 2011 by HDAV
Gordon R
Try ringing Daihatsu agent and asking for a price to fix code 81. When they quote, lead the discussion on to what exactly does it mean. Worked a couple of times for me.
Robbly
£224 isn't a bad price but I wouldn't let Kwik Fit clean my windscreen......YEE HAA Is there an engine warning light on? Does the car drive ok? the fore mentioned motor specialists specialise in one thing and that's finding things that aren't there and charging you to fix them Edited November 12, 2011 by Robbly
drut
81 is code for "immobiliser control module - signal malfunction" but that only points you in the right direction,it could be the module itself,a bad connection/wiring fault or even the ecu unit.If it is just a stored fault & no running issues it may not be an issue.Timing belt is just under 2hr job with no special tools reqd.Best you ask around and find a trustworthy local independent to help you further. Hamster
Also they have quoted £224 for replacing the cambelt, doesn`t it sound abit expensive? I've paid more than that for a regular service, that sounds reasonable for a cambelt.
