JonD
Hi All, I have been asked by a friend to look after his shotguns whilst an issue is resolved as he has been advised to remove the guns from the house temporarily and was wondering what the process is? I have enough space in my cabinet and obviously hold an SGC, not sure how long they will be with me for but definitely longer than 72 hours. Do these need adding to my cert? What needs to be entered onto it? I'm also assuming that i need to inform the Firearms Licensing Dept that I have them? Cheers, Jon.

Yes If its for a reasonably long period.. ie several weeks you will both need to fill in a transfer form and send to the relevent FA licencing dept. Ive always put them down as loans in the past and sent an explanatory letter with it and also when transfering back. For shorter durations ive only ever sent a letter of explanation. Just covers you both in the event of a mishap.
ajb403
Same process as if you were buying them but instead of him writing bought on your cert he writes lent. Both of you then inform the licensing department. Cheers Ashley
Harnser
Or , Have them put on your ticket as sold or given and sell them back when the time is appropriate . Harnser . Edited November 18, 2011 by Harnser
kyska
As above, they can go on as lent, then no arguments if you try and sell them...

Mike525steel
I would put them down as sold. Then if the issue is not resolved then no one can take them away
