Help me find a new sidebyside?

I am looking for a sidebyside for rough/walked up shooting. I'd like boxlock 12g fixed 1/2,3/4 chokes and oiled pow/half pistol grip would be perfect but I don't want to spend load on it or have a heavy gun.

aya 4/53 seems good but expensive new would have to trade silver pigeon to consider it.

I was thinking Ugartechea http://www.guntrader.co.uk/GunsForSale/051122173503001 anyone had one? tried one? (the wood on this one looks like it wants to split with that two tone line running down it)

I know someone will say good deals second hand but older guns mean shorter stock and which is a problem.

Baikal are good but heavy and new ones are all multichoke and full pistol which i don't want on sbs.

So have I left any stone unturned? Is there some small gunmaker out the that I have overlooked or is SBS just a thing of the past.

Miroku not sure if they still do them? Depends on budget lots out there plenty with decent length stocks I have a BSA/SKB 200E that was my grandfathers has all you want mine is pistol gripped but seen PoW stocks on them yildiz, Lincoln, fausti, gamba I think offer SxS at reasonable money I am sure you could have a stock altered or one made for you at right length

Yeah stock altering only works a little bit if you add it on the butt. Extend to much and geometry all messed up. Better longer and shallower angle from the start. Miroku stopped doing one. There used to me a model 500 but browning weight made it unpopular I think. yildiz has the plastic painted over wood grain which is nasty looking. Lincoln don't make em, Fausti and Gamba ..didn't know about them can't see any uk stockist though?

You could get an old AYA No3 ( non-ejector ) for around £100. If you fancy something that feels expensive, and looks nice too, then how about a Black Sable Deluxe ? It's a sidelock, so light and thin, but cheap at sub £500 used private. I think they're made by a famous maker for Gunmark. No markings on mine to give a clue though.

Fausti and gamba do them contact them for UK importer details, Yildiz is Wood (at least in the better ones)

West country guns did Gamba not sure if they still do?

SPortsman do fausti gets a good write up here http://www.thefield.co.uk/gunreviews/447112/Fausti_style_sidebyside_gun_review.html

What sort of budget? for £3k there is the william powell Marquis which has a 15"1/8 LOP made by Arrieta in spain

Stock altering is one thing but having a stock made is different as it can be balanced just as a new gun is. SxS are not popular so eithe rgrab a S/H bargain or struggle looking for a new gun in limited market....

£1500 or so. Nuts that Fausti is not on sportsman anymore just the o/u ones called windsors.

I would phone, as they are the importer I would think the SRP is nonsense and designed to make them look better value £1500 may get you into silver hawk territory used. Are you after single or double triggers? Multi choke? Steel proof?

Where are you? ( can't see from my phone) SxS are far less popular than O/U and as such many importers may well not list guns they can get and may well have some stock that isn't published/promoted the William Powell Marquis looks perfect but is nearer £3k worth am email to see if they have a used one....

Malmos give a warranty with their guns, I buy all mine from there and have never had a problem

Same with ammo, they have plenty more that arent up on the site though

Some lovely ones in store today and excellent makers, holland and holland too if you wish as well as various other high enders, Hollands were fairly cheap I think

Not really any risk buying a reputable gun from a reputable dealer, found a fausti for you for £800 double trigger tho? £1300 on the berretta with lovely wood (assuming it all fits etc) would be my choice I think

Closer to £10,000 for that Beretta Jubilee I think.

I would go the 2nd hand route, nice English/scottish boxlock for £1500 could get a tidy gun,I doubt over time you would lose any money on it.If your main reason against them is 'all have short stocks' are you a gorilla? Typical 14.5-15 stocks are the norm, what size do you need?

I think the Ugartachea is a good looking gun, however if you buy new I do think you will lose 30% by taking it out of the shop...If you prefer foreign,AYA No 2? bit smart for rough shooting but within your budget 2nd hand?

ATB.
