My quest to find a pair of boots continues. I fancied a pair of Lowa's but don't have a stockist anywhere near and I'm reluctant to buy them mail order without trying them on. I can get a pair of the ones listed in the title fairly close but wondered if any of you guys had any expirience with them.

Cheers.

I use both the Meindl Burma Pro MFS and the Douvre Extremes, fantastic boots and I've had them for years.

Excellent quality and easy to look after.

I use the High legs stalking and the Borneo's for just about everything else. You will not be disappointed as long as they fit you.

Thanks but it's the Borneos in perticular I'm looking for info on. I've set myself a ceiling price of £150. I can get Borneos for this but struggling to get Burmas. I know the Burma is Gortex lined but the Borneo isn't. I wondered if there were waterproof?

Just seen Burmas on flee bay for £145 (free postage) going out to try a pair in a shop.

Just tried a pair on and had a good walk around the shop and I can't fault them. They wouldn't budge on the price (£180) tho. Just ordered a pair from Rutland outdoor for £138.98 including delivery leaving me £40 towards a new coat (the seeland one I bought last week is going back as I've read some bad reviews about them leaking.

I needed new boots (Danners are now done for) and had a look around on line.

Ended up going to Go Outdoors after they did a massive price match - they had some Berghaus ones for £120, I found them at Blacks for £100 and Go Outdoors accepted the price match claim (I did on line) and sent me an email saying pop into store and have them for £65.

Long story short I have Hobbit wide feet and the only boots in the store that fit were some from HiTec.

So long boring story short, go into a store and try them on, and if you're going to go into any store go to a Go Outdoors (I was really impressed - after about the 10th different pair of boots out to try on the shop assistant was still smiling, whereas I would have told me to **** off after the 4th pair). And yes, they do Meindls.

Looking forward to my Burmas turning up £140 is a bargain, I just had to have them.

In case anyone else was interested the Borneos seem to have the same upper but with different coloured stitching than the Burma. It has a leather lining instead of the Goretex and have the same Vibram sole but the bit between the sole and the shoe is different.

With the weather we get here I thought I'd better go for the Gortex ones. My Timberlands can now return to "pub shoe" duty.

Meindls are fantastic boots. I did the Maggies Monster Challenge with mine and all I had were sore heels at 49miles, not even blisters. A couple of bits of compeed and I was fine until the 74mile finish line :good:

:good: Its good to know that the boots are up to this sort of task, but honestly? 74 miles? I'd need something with an engine not some swanky walking boots.

 I know! How easily it trips off the tongue ( especially after a few drams!! :drinks: ). 'fancy doing this thing, 74miles in 24hrs?'. '74miles? oh aye!' says me 'sounds ace'. My feet might have been fine but my body ached for a week  Never again!!
