james8iles
I have just received a call from the Firearms Officer and my meeting is next Monday for my shotgun application! I only sent it away last Thursday! I now need to secure my boxx gun cabinet to the breeze block in the loft. I was going to use the following but if anybody else has any recommendations it would be greatly appreciated. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1-BRATTONSOUND-GUNSAFE-CABINET-FIXINGS-PACK-BLOCK-/190443584229?pt=UK_SportingGoods_Hunting_ShootingSports_ET&hash=item2c57527ae5 Edited November 28, 2011 by james8iles
Dr_evil
Dont put it in the loft and use expanding bolts from a builders merchant, 5 inch bolts are what I used

james8iles
I have a nice space for it in the loft but was going to use chemical bolts http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1-BRATTONSOUND-GUNSAFE-CABINET-FIXINGS-PACK-BLOCK-/190443584229?pt=UK_SportingGoods_Hunting_ShootingSports_ET&hash=item2c57527ae5

As for fixing into breeze block, might be an idea to get some resin stuff applyinto the holes, put the bolts in and fasten tightly but don't over do it. Rawlbolts into breeze type blocks could just force the block apart when tightened REALLY tight.
james8iles
I asked on the phone whether he would like it installed before he comes and he said yes. He also agreed with me the loft was the best place for it. I think chemical fixings are the only way to do it into breeze block.

Well thats sorted then At the end of the day it's the opinion of the FEO thats gonna matter and if he's happy that goes along way towards your SGC grant. Moors Man
My Fire Arms Officer also liked the loft for increased security. Dampness should not be a problem just get a gun sock to protect it.
james8iles
Can I not just store it in the gun slip? Also heard that putting silica gel in the cabinet is a good idea?

Livefast123
My local guy said that if I wanted to have it in the loft then I would have to have a loft ladder to make it easy to get up there
