Sco77w
Mrs. Sco77w has taken my sealand coat back to the shop for a refund, partly because I've read some bad reviews and more importantly she didn't like it. Anway she has put the extra to to buy me a Musto technical tweed coat. I know they look the part on the gun line on a cold driven shoot but what are they like for evert day use. triumphant59
Assume you mean wearing when not shooting? Would you go to Tesco's wearing tweed breeks? My view is that a green shooting coat is more versatile than a tweed also you can wear any colour breeks with a green coat whereas with tweed they look best if both match. Dr_evil
hey I go to the the shops in pyjamas and I walked into asda today wearing full camo It's not a question of how versatile it is its a question of how impervious to judgment you are Edited November 29, 2011 by Dr_evil
Sco77w
I usually take the dog out for 40 minutes or so in the morning and at least an hour in the evening on top of shooting. I just wondered if they were any good in the rain. I know it has a goretex drop lining, but I'm concerened it won't have time to dry out properly between use when the wet weather comes. I don't know why I listen to her sometimes, she'd have me walking round looking like Guy Ritchy if she had her way.
AlistairB
I've got one, its been through snow, sleet, rain, all sorts in fact and never let me down, well worth the money. Fits beautifully and also doesnt look too bad with a nice pair of jeans. Go for it. AB
Beardo
i have the Musto technical tweed jacket and absolutely love it - it gets worn a lot in the winter, whether shooting or not. get it - you wont regret it. i just wish i could get the breeks to match as mine is a colour from a while back (heather) - there are some on ebay but they're all too big. Fatcatsplat
Think you'll actually find that tweeds are a bit trendy this year (!!) whether worn with smart or casual gear. If you buy something classic it will never age. Must admit that it does need to be a bit on the chilly side to have the coat done up but they are excellent i have the Musto technical tweed jacket and absolutely love it - it gets worn a lot in the winter, whether shooting or not. get it - you wont regret it. i just wish i could get the breeks to match as mine is a colour from a while back (heather) - there are some on ebay but they're all too big. Idiot boy - I'm in the same position, but I think you'll find that they are all too small!!
Sco77w
Thanks guys, I'm sure it'll be fine. The one she has got me is a current line but shes picked it up from a musto clearence shop. She's only paid £200 for it. I'm wondering if I should get breeks while they're still available or just stick with the good old moleskins.
triumphant59
Get the breeks now if they match especially if their reduced. If cheap enough get 2 pairs, the jacket will outlast them!
AlistairB
Get anything you think you might need in the same pattern while you can, they become rarer than rocking horse doodoo very quickly, and then if you can find the breeks/waistcoat/cap/sports jacket that you thought you wouldnt want, hugely expensive and as above, not in your size! utectok
Personally I like to mix and match my outfits.... And accessorise with a nice cartridge case. Far more versatile as fashion changes so fast these day.... Reminds me I must restyle my beard.
