Dead-Eyed Duck
I am just posting this to see if I can get the hang of posting more than one pic. The gun is my Sako 0.223 75, fitted with a T8 and Swaro 2.5-10 x 56. My previous centrefires have been a Sako 0.223 Varmint, Remington 700 22-250 Varmint and Tikka 0.17 Rem. All were excellent and accurate. The Rem 700 trigger was not really up to scratch, and so I had it tweaked. The 0.17 Rem was a beautiful round, but effected by wind too much, and it needed a very strict bore cleaning regime to keep the accuracy up to par. The 2nd pic is simply a target when I became happy with a load that I had worked up to. This was with Berger 50g hollowpoints. You don't see Bergers advertised much, but their 'explosive ' effects' can be astounding - I put this down to the very thin wall on the hollow point area. They are also as accurate as any other heads that I have tried - perhaps the one exception being V-Max, which are also very good. I would of course state that this combination works well with my gun, and others may be different! It has been my experience that 50g heads are a good HUNTING weight for 0.223, being just that bit faster than the standard 55g, and at least as accurate. With the 22-250, this preferred 55g.
