Cranfield
It seems farmers are growing a wider variety of "exotic/unusual" commercial crops, these days. Where I shoot there is, camomile, lavender and lupins. The pigeons are very interested in camomile and lupins. Anything unusual where you shoot and does it attract pigeons ? M ROBSON
We get some good bags on Brocolli, Colliflower, Kale, and Turnips there are a couple of fields of Linseed about but I haven't seen any pigeons feeding on them.
The Sniper
Cranfield, One of my mates had a good day of about 70 on linseed. It was about 6" tall at the time. They were certainly waiting for feeding time, you could see them all waiting on the power lines above the field. There was plenty of other field sround them to go at, at the time, but they definitely wanted that linseed.
brooktrout
Although not exactly an "exotic" plant, Vetch seems to strongly attract woodies when the pods ripen and burst open showing tiny jet black seeds. This stuff appears to be a favourite delicacy for them. Usually found on rough wasteland, and ripens around August.
MAJ
Both linseed and lupins have been very productive for me. This is the first year I have shot over these particular crops, but my farmers have said that they intend growing them regularly from now on, (I guess there may be subsidies involved). Somebody recently posted a topic concerning a field of poppies that one of their farmers had planted. I would be very interested to hear if this was productive - from a pigeon shooting point of view.
