Have got alot of old shell decoys that the paint has come off and would like to respray them black or paint them for crow shooting what is the best to paint them with without to much prep to the shells got about forty to do. Cosd Posted December 12, 2011 Report Share Posted December 12, 2011 There's some good matt grey paints out there but could work out quite expensive to paint all those decoys. A grey spray primer is effective and keeps the cost down, some tippex for neck and wing bars and matt black for wing and tail tips to give them some depth. I would make some elasticated black socks to use over the pigeon decoys for when you go for the blacks, using some cloth material, otherwise just matt black on a dozen of them since you have so many. ljaddy12 Posted December 12, 2011 Report Share Posted December 12, 2011 painted 20 old plastic decoys in black gloss bit back was 7 quid for a small tin nice n thick easy to put on hard wearing wasnt sure at first but friend of mine painted his in gloss for an experiment after seeing crows feathers slightly glossy and shine in sun seems to work very very well.
