screamingdead
Hi All I've bought a MEOPTA Meopro 4-12x50 to use with a Ruger 10/22 - I didn't consider any issues with parallax before I made this purchase, but now I'm wondering if I should swap this scope for something more suited to use at 22 LR ranges. Intended use is mainly for lamping at ranges between 40 to 70 yards with the magnification set between 4 - 6. Will a scope that is parallax free at 100 yards be any use at these ranges? Any advice is much appreciated as I can still return this scope as it hasn't been mounted on the rifle yet. Thanks SD

Thanks SD hi, if i were you i would send it back and possibly go for a meopta fixed mag or at the most a 3-9x50 for the ranges you are looking to shoot at chers dave
kent
Forget the paralax issue, in the field you will miss more shots throught worrying anout it or fiddling than you will with PX error. IF your looking directly through the centre of the scope paralax is a non issue. Hunting i should go for 6x or 7x and leave it there only using higher mag for plinking / practice and zeroing. Having tried allsorts my favourite .22 lr hunting scopes are 6x42 fixed paralax. Keep the scope if you will loose a penny swapping it IMO. screamingdead
Thanks both - I decided to keep the scope, going to mount it this afternoon and hopefully zero it over Christmas SD
Colster
As Kent says, if your head position is correct (or at least consistent) than parallax won't cause you to miss. The only other issue that parallax will cause is blurring of either the target or the crosshairs at certain distances. This only really becomes an issue at high mag, stick to 6x and you shouldn't have a problem, just a fantastic scope to look through! Definitely a scope that I would have to think long and hard about getting rid of, I love the scopes on my guns but if I see a Meopta come up for sale second hand I'll always have a look at it.
