Hi Tom,I got this particular scope on my Theoben Rapid 17 air-rifle.It's a cracking scope but wouldn't put it on my .22-250.

I would certainly look for something with a bigger objective lens, either a 50mm or 56mm.

I got a Simmons WTC 6.5-20x50 scope on my .22LR and it would be a cracking scope on my .22-250 too.

++ 10x40 wouldn't let much light in for night shooting, I think Mark is right on with his advice, I have a 2x10x50 on my 10/22 for night shooting coon and it is bright enough to see with modest light. The 3200 is a good scope-- they make a 4x12x40 that would do you better than the straight 10 power.

Scopes are very personal.

Anything that starts with 10x is too powerful for my liking, I also prefer variable power scopes for field work!

Many are commenting about Objective size and light transmission, I believe you will find a number of 40mm scopes with Better light transmission than some 50-56mm scopes. Glass quality, coatings and lens elements have more to do with light transmission than simply objective (or tube) size!

ATB!
