docholiday
After a fun day after pigeon yesterday had an evening to get on with our doe cull, we set off at 3pm and a fox made an appearance at about 160 yds and I fluffed the shot, so we settled down and a fallow popped out in front of me and then proceeded to walk down the field, grazing, whilst pointing her backside at me all the way into the woods, so short of a Texas heart shop didnt present a shot, about 4.15pm four roe presented themselves in the corner of the field, but no suitable back stop, my partner started a long slow stalk to get the angle that was safe and after 20 mins was looking good, with that this doe then walked towards him, I thought she wasnt going to stop, but at about 50 yds she stopped and turned broadside, he fired and I saw the bullet strike. but the damn deer didnt know it was dead and bolted over the fence, and into the copse. As I was certain she was hit hard we checked out the area for blood and pins but in the falling light couldnt find anything, started to worry so we split up and entered a very thick cops. after 20 mins we found her dead, on gralloching the shot was slightly back having missed the heart but shredded the lungs. how she went 200 metres through such thick cover i have no idea. Anyway liver and kidney for tea, and one more for the cull sorry about the image only had the phone with me Edited January 6, 2012 by docholiday
