njc110381
Depending on your situation you could be looking at anything from .22lr to .22-250! What ranges do you need to shoot at, how many rounds do you expect to use per year and what's the ground like etc? .22lr seems the obvious choice but only if you don't need to go past 70ish yards. Further maybe HMR, although I wouldn't want to body shot anything with lots of feathers with it as it may be a bit light? Any of the centrefires will be head shot only if you want to eat the bunnies? deershooter
Cormorants are protected birds a special licensee must be obtained to shoot them from English Nature and you are only allowed to use a shotgun not a rifle Deershooter

mink
SNH are even worse, they even try to tell you to shoot to wound so that the other birds get the message and yes shotgun only. they normally want the carcases inspected as well. And no we did not shoot to deliberately wound, after explaining our objection SNH seemed not to understand and we just ignored that bit of their advice. Although as most Ghillie/Bailifs only have game guns a lot are only wounded or lightly pricked anyway, and they then turn to the rifle (centrefire) and just blast the carcass with a shotgun.
