Four-wheel-drive, i think you have taken the reply far too seriously. No one was knocking Johnny Foreigner, it wa sjust some light hearted ( but truthful ) banter.

I agree that we sometimes reply on past glories, but who doesn't. Other nations are happy to knock us, I am happy to stand up and push back defending what we have contributed to the world.

Yes we may be skint, run by numpties etc but we still lead in many areas of innovation.

I worked for Sony for 15 years, they were real innovators. The americans are not. Steve job is heralded as a gurur & innovator. He invented nothing but what he did do was refine and improve already invented ideas.

A lot of us Brits recognise what the yanks did to help us and the rest of the world when you joined in WW11. The sad thing is you have always been late, based your action a bit too much on self-interest and not altruism and always first relied upon the brits to resist alone.

A huge number of American men and women and Brits gave their lives in the war and many yanks volunteered before the US was attacked by Japan, thinking of others.

We do well to think of the individual sacrifices, whomsoever they were and not propaganda, whatever its source.

Just a personal view.

Sometimes its hard to be sure, I watched a lot of John Wayne films.

Actually you would be surprised how many of your countrymen dont think its a joke !

We Brits of a certain age recognise a joke when we see one.

Cheers
