kyska
just wondering i have only used 17grn b/tips in my hummer and was pondering on some 20grn hollow points heard they do less meat dammage try to head shoot most of the time but dont always work out that way also do they richochet and are they as accurate dave Give them a try mate, I only bought one box and couldn't get a satifactory consistent group, but thats with minimal albeit almost nonchalent effort, on top of that changing missile weight was a pain in the neck when I'm used to point and shoot with 17g. They'll still damage meat though.
Dekers
As above.... When my HMR was new it hated the 20g, but several 1000 rounds down the line it is pretty easy with them and they group well. For some reason I am yet to fully understand they actually fly higher in mine at 100yards than the 17g. Just the same, I find the HMR comes into it's own with the 17g, if I want something more I use my WMR.
bennyblanco
Mine hated the only box of 20g that I bought too, unbelievably **** groups compared to the 17g but I guess all rifles are different.
Gimlet
This has come up a few times and the general consensus is avoid the 20g hollows. I don't like them at all. On body shots on rabbits they can whistle straight through without transfering much energy resulting in a runner and on stoney ground they're hideous for ricochets. Every bit as bad as .22 subs except when they scream they go twice as far at twice the speed and leave you with your heart in your mouth. That said they're quite good for shooting foxes in the napper, but then the V max is no slouch there either, so I stick with those.
Amexian
I raised this question too a few months ago (17hmr bullet choice), worth a checking out some of the comments. Have a look at TNT 17gr JHP as an alternative to ballistic tips.
