bicykillgaz
I'm giving my .22lr a bit of a make over, i've ordered my boyds thumbhole stock in forest camo and wanted to give the barrel a tart up too, just wondered what they are likely to charge at a gunsmiths. welshwarrior
Call uk gun repairs they do top work and at a good price. My shotgun cost me under £200 for all the metal work a .22 barrel is a lot smaller so would be less

northeastshooter
From what my gunsmith said amd looked into doing it myself the polishing takes the most time so this is what costs in time the bluing is relativly straight forward

Blunderbuss
do it yourself you can buy the kit from any good gun shop. The DIY kits use a cold bluing process. This is nowhere near as attractive, corrosion resistant or hard wearing as the hot bluing bath full of noxious and unpleasant chemicals a proper gunsmith would use. They're ok for scratches or screw heads etc, but to do a whole gun would probably look patchy and amateurish compared to a professional job. I've blued quite a few guns with the Birchwood Casey kits, & have had mixed results. A Bruno Mod-2 that I done several years ago came out excellent, & to this day is still as good as the day it was done. On the other hand, a 12g Sabel SxS I done just after, has done the opposite, nearly all the blue has come off. I've come to the conclusion that it must be the different types of steel that are used by the different manufactures.
