Will Beasley
most wiper motors draw roughly two amps per hour ( unless its a porsche wiper motor ) so you're looking at about 6 hours running time.
stupidsalmon
Sounds good enough to me, Thanks will How would 20m of cable running out the the motor and back to the battery effect its life? Cheers SS
The Shootist
Sounds good enough to me,Thanks will How would 20m of cable running out the the motor and back to the battery effect its life? Cheers SS Wont make any significant difference in the length of time it will run... Resistance of the length of cable will microscopically reduce the power at the motor... but not that you'd notice in practice. henry d
Don`t use the thinnest wire as that may affect it as it acts as a resistor if it`s too thin.

Dave66
If you are using 20 Metres of cable , put the batteries near the magnet, and use a 12Volt relay, and a switch at the end of the cable. this means the cable is only carrying the current to operate the relay, it is not carrying the current for the wiper motor, mine seems to work better this way and you can use thinner cable. henry d
You could go to a firm that deals with fire/burglar alarms and they bin the batteries before they`re duff and may give you just what you`re looking for at a very reasonable price or you could buy off J357. dr_nick
The relay would use more current than it would save. Get some good two core flex, the higher amperage the better ( the thicker the less resistance). Out of interest, a load of large Ni-cad or ni-mh batteries made into a battery pack would be a lot lighter than a lead acid battery. Maplin battery holders D size is best.
