wildfowler.250
I always mull this one over when I'm out wildfowling.. I know that Curlew used to be on the quarry list,(and from what I've heard they taste good). As I understand it, curlew were taken off because they were in low numbers? I don't know what the rest of the uk is like but where I shoot there's heaps of them. Do birds ever go back on the list? Or has there ever been a petition do get them back on? Just something I was curious about. I would be chuffed to get them back on the quarry list ATB!
Beardo
Birds can come and go on the GL. Just because you have large amounts where you are doesn't mean that's the case nationally though
poontang
Got loads of Curlew down here too. A bigger problem seem to be the Brent Geese though - huge amounts of them about this year. However, as Nick says, it may well be a local problem, so unlikely to see any change in the GL.

More Brent than any thing else down here too make a hell of a mess on the local football pitches, school playing fields, golf courses etc! wildfowler.250
I'm sure there are local variations. I would trade them for golden plover or something though

Dekers
Pretty unusual round my way, but then again I do have more than my fair share of Parakeets!

CharlieT
Curlew were never on the General License list, they were a quarry species in their own right and were withdrawn in the WCA of 1981 along with many other waders that were tremendously sporting to shoot. Seriously though, is this something basc would ever look at doing? I'm guessing probably not
