Wallachie
This beauty of a Golden Pheasant is a regular in my parents' back garden, their house backs on to a local estate and I think this bird has escaped from the owner's private collection (he has a small petting farm on the estate). It's super tame, you can literally walk right up and feed it. Stunning looking bird, my Mum is totally in awe of it - a very rare bird apparently, according to RSPB there are only up to 118 breeding pairs in the UK. Farmer-of-the-Futre
Saw a gold one myself but it wasnt quite as colourfull as that. Ill try uploading a picture of it It was trying to attack the neighbouring farmer while he was in his tractor! Haha. It seemed rather tame when we saw it though. Wildfowler12
Here we are: That's not a golden, it's a Reeve's pheasant. Nice to see but don't get too close, they are known to be aggressive to humans Edited February 21, 2012 by Wildfowler12

I lived in Ballymoney for the first 18 years of my life, so I have a fair idea where it is dude! 10 miles from the beach, pretty close in my book! Devon Fox
The golden is a stunner. As for the Reeves - we rear them on the game farm, we have about 40 layers, and I am not joking that they will go for you, catching them is the pits, when they get in your face flapping the wings and thrashing the spurs, they are like razors, stunning birds, we have 3 cocks on the shoot, there tails are easily 4/5 feet long, and they always chase the landowner when he is out on his rounds! Farmer-of-the-Futre
Ahh right, thanks for the info. and yeah, like i said, it has tried to go for the neibouring farmer, jumping up on the tracto bonnet and all sorts. My dad got withing about 2 feet of it after i took that picture. It seemed to have calmed down a bit. I dont think the shoot had bought it in though. Must have come from elsewhere.
