The sub 12 can have a muzzle velocity of 800fps, you would want the FAC to be less than 1050fps for accuracy, that's not a huge difference. A .22 at 1000fps or maybe a 0.25 would be a more useful rifle. Absolutely. .177 is a good calibre for sub 12ftlb. Fac is best suited to .22 or even better, .25. As Cat' says, the Diablo design pellet (AA Field, RWS Super' etc) fly best at up to 1000 odd fps. 900-950 fps is optimum for accuracy IMO.
