deejay
I have test due on my freelander and have had a problem with the reverse lights . These went off last week (typical) and as such I have not been able to find the problem as to why, I have checked the bulbs , I have checked the switch and I think I have checked all the fuses . I did find a couple of hidden relays under the boot cover when I removed it to follow the wiring from reverse lights . These had nothing to do with the lights but it does go to show that they hide these things anywhere. Now could someone enlighten me as to where (if any) there could be any more fuses that I may have missed , It is a freelander 02 td4 . And I now also have the radio problem with no code , I cant get the radio out as I have not the tools for the serial number , just been on a site that only asked for the VIN number but asked for £16.99 for the code ha ha no chance . Thanks for any help . Daz
drut
Best probably to ask on 4x4 forums for radio code http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f9/2004-freelander-radio-code-48440.html will give you a taste.Reverse light switch is common cause of no reversing light but it could be wiring etc.Reversing lights do not come under MOT checks. deejay
Thanks Drut , it had been in the back of my mind about the reverse lights for MOT but wasnt %100 . As for the radio I will probably wait until tuesday to ring the dealers and see if they can come up with the code , if not I will try the forums . Again many thanks . SPARKIE
As said tthe reverse lights swtch's play up get a link wire and put it accross the connections on the plug if they come on then get a new switch. as for the relays in the boot do you have a tow bar as iv'e seen one in the past that had twin charging and relays and sounder box wired up for reverse. I do have a towbar and that has explained them , with reverse beeper for the caravan thanks . Also have phoned dealer and they had said if I go down there they will fit me a new break pedal switch (three lights on dash) and print off my radio code . The switch was going to cost me £50 which I have already replaced and had no luck. I was told by team valley LR that the fault of the three lights ( amigos) could not be diagnosed by there system . I took it up to a guy up at Tow Law and the guy up there managed to pin point it down to the nsf sensor . All for £35 LR team valley had told me it would be £65 just to test it without promise of finding fault. I have since done a little research and purchased a sensor off ........EBAY and I am awaiting the delivery of this too good to be true bargain . The LR dealer priced one at £261 not inc vat , and £360 supplied and fitted THIE IS FOR JUST THE ONE SENSOR I had to laugh as it only cost me £500 last year for a full clutch supplied and fitted ( dont figure ). I will keep all you freelander owners up to date as of this month there will be a lot of sensors being changed due to new MOT regs . deejay
Well got the sesnor today and it turns out to be the wrong part . The part I am in need of is one like the one in pic . For some reason mine is a different chassis number which starts with 2A . The part number is SSB000140 and if anyone can point me in a cheaper direction that would help .
