bazparfitt
Have been Looking at a Browning X-Bolt as an upgrade to my previous BSA, any ideas if this is a good rifle or if there are better ones for under £1000?
wellman
Can't fault my Tikka T3 .243, consistent sub 1" groups out to 200yds using Winchester Super X 100gr. Also have a T3 in 30.06 for the big reds and Sika

Devon Fox
+ another tikka fan. I have the stainless tikka t3 243, excellent straight out of the box, I couldn't be doing with a gun that didn't use a mag! Great value and highly reccomended. mick miller
Well, I don't have a Tikka, but I do have a X-Bolt Stainless Stalker and I think, for the money, it's superb. Not sure about the above comment, the X-Bolt has a five round magazine which is both compact and innovative. I've had no reliability issues and the accuracy out of the box is spot-on. 12borejimbo
I've got tikka 595 and it is very nice, the earlier version of the T3, was looking for a t3 but this came up and I love it, sought after action too for custom rifles. Redgum
Its all down to cost really, if you can afford a Tika then all the positive comments on here speak for themselves. My first centrefire was a Remington 700 sps in 243 and its been a real love/hate relashionship, the rifle is now probably as, if not more accurate than most Tikas but if you add up the Timney trigger, hogue stock and barrel shortening it would have been cheaper just to buy a Tika. I now have a Tika hunter in 308, it shoots real well with out any mods, its nice and light, the trigger is sweet and easy to adjust, all in all a well rounded and reliable tool. I'm sure that the Browning is a great rifle too, not that I have ever fire one, but have read a bit on them, adjustable trigger, bedded action, benefits of both mag and floorplate etc.
