Walkie talkies

05.30am this morning myself & Al went back to a farm who had some massive problems with "blackies".

We sat watching for about an hour and decided to pitch our stall front & rear of the cow sheds.

Armed with just 2 walkie talkies and our guns I stood inside a thick hedgerow opposite the sheds and Al sat down at the rear of the sheds ,behind a trailer.

The rooks & jackies came straight over and anything coming from behind me Al would RADIO me & vica-versa I would radio him.

We shot steady for 2 1/2 hours and dropped 112 and had some of the best high-bird shooting in a long time.

Missing only 14 shots and had 11 double-deckers between us and both agreed that the walkie talkies had put at least 40 more birds to the tally than we would have shot.

On the way out, the Farmer's wife was sitting in her garden peeling sprouts and was most pleased to say the least with our bag. And now we have got to go back and shoot the magpies she has pestering her .

What a bonus the radios were.

We drove back and picked up the kids and then set up on some swathed rape on another farm and shot 47 pigeons.

Nice weekend, 216 blackies and I ain't eating ANY of them .

or are we supposed to??:)?

Nice shooting.

"Walkie talkies" :D?, it will be radar and heat seeking missiles next. :)

I have mentioned before, that there seems to be a population explosion of rooks and jackdaws (especially) in our area.

Is this reflected all over the Uk ?

Yo cranfield. we already have them but at the moment they are c rap.

You fire them off and they head straight to the sun with this *****y heatwave we have at the moment.

:lol::lol::beer:

As for the population explosion I think the problem is most of the woods in the country with rookeries are either privately owned , owned by the Forestry Commission or the Church, and you can't get permission to shoot there.

:D:/ :(
