markyboy
Price of barley could break the bank feeding 4 ponds I've managed to get this season. Anybody any suggestions to alternative food types? Mallard, teal and wigeon one pond has been know to pull pintail. Tried tatties last season on one pond they worked a treat pulling in 150 duck into a pond in one flight mainly mallard all wild, is there anything else I could use feeding wise that won't break bank as don't know if tatties be availible like last season

Pheasant Feeder
Fish and chip scraps might be worth a try, or stale bread from catterers if you can get it.

drone
Guts from all the stuff you shoot, rabbits, pigeons, game, crows etc. If you haven't any try chicken guts from a processing plant. If you can freeze them, put a knotted rope in first so you have a handle to carry and throw them where you need them. Mallard love them as do foxes, rats corvids mink etc that can provide excellent sport as a by product. Pike like them too and grow big v.quick. Start early, well before the season and you'll be able to judge when to arrange the shooting as it usually takes a couple of days for the duck to get the message round their mates. Worked for me on a lake in wales, mixed with alternate feeds on spuds and grain. In our area the council are making folks put their waste food separately for collection and I wonder if there's any mileage in asking the council for some to use, just a thought.
