adamk
hi i been eyeing up a sako quad 22lr in my local shop and was just wondering if any one could recommend a few upgrade parts. i would be very intrested in a longer barrel somwhere around 26" but i dont know where to get one also what moderator and scope would suit best for short range rabbit work
Livefast123
26" + Mod, are you going for the field gun look? I've just cut my CZ barrel down to 14" with no loss in performance and accuracy has increased if anything. For a .22RF the best mods IMO are the SAK and SAKO, a 3 - 9 x 40 scope will do the fine for short range rabbit work? shaun4860
I had my quad cut DOWN to 14", add 4" back on for a sak mod, thats 18" Standard one is 20", add mod(4") there's 24" If you go for a 26" barrel (and i've never heard of one) then stick a sak mod on, you are looking at 30" :o As said, why on earth? Stick a Sak mod on, (very good on a .22) then stick a Nighteater 6x24x56 scope on it, that will also cover you for when you put the .17HMR barrel on, (you will) Edited May 8, 2012 by shaun4860
12borejimbo
I too think why on earth a long barrel? Will not make the rifle anymore accurate, it will hinder you if using it from a truck (if you do) get a short barrel if u can, a half decent variable scope (ideally the best scope you can afford) and get used to it! I regularly shoot bunnies fro 10 - 100 yards, shot literally thousands of rounds with my rimmy!
Jolly
my quad barrel was reduced to 16" plus mod 26" woud be un-pointable imo
Bewsher500
mine is standard length, dont use it in a vehicle so no issue. OP upgrade have a look to the US DM Products or something like that. I replaced the plastic trigger guard and the plastic bolt handel with CNC anodised guard and a turned metal bolt knob. if I could replace teh crappy plastic bolt shroud with metal I would do that too! adamk
well shooting from ajeep is not a problem because the majority of land i shoot is inaccessible other than on foot. was just wondering about a longer barrel but from the reaction im gonna say its not a good idea. just gonna go with a mod and decent scope and see if i get on with it and if its to long il just have to cut it down

If you do go for one of those contact Dave Mercer direct - it will save you a lot of money!
