Hopper Bopper
Hi guys, I have searched PW for answers but can find none. I have started knocking a few crows recently and bought an acme crow caller. Listening to the crows in the area i notice they use different calls. Can any one tell me what the different calls mean please? I have especially noticed a single 'caw' as well as a set of three 'caws'together. Now I know that my cuurent attempts with caller are poo and i must practice, but which 'caw' shall i concentrate on to bring the tinkers into range? Many thanks HB

steve_b_wales
Get yourself a Primos Power Crow caller, which costs around £12. It's excellent, once you learn how to use it.
Hopper Bopper
I bought an Acme crow caller the other day - just £6.00 so i thought it was worth a punt. Used it once so far and got 4 to fly over me in range. Quite pleased-ish. HB

Used it once so far and got 4 to fly over me in range. Quite pleased-ish. HB The ACME caller is okay, but I've found that it's better suited for Jackdaw's, owing to it's higher pitch. The Primos caller has a lower tone, and can produce a more raspier sound. I have never failed to call in Crows, Jackdaws and Rooks with this caller. Don't give up on the Primos if you don't get it right at first. It's a first class caller, and I use it with excellent results.
