Yarmite
Hi. Just wanted to promote a club I have joined....see topic description! If you want to check them out, they have a website: www.hartlepool-wildfowlers.co.uk Inland marsh wildfowling, game (rough) shooting and also some vermin shooting is available through the club. Fees are reasonable, but you need to do three working parties per year before shooting game (not required before going wildfowling). Cheers. jamesneale89
I'm thinking about joining this club as I live in Durham , what's cowpen marsh like shoot? Many birds around and what other wildfowling do you get as I'm not interested in the rough shoot as I'm a syndicate member at 2 other shoots, more info would be great as the web page isn't helpful, and I believe it's £300 a season if that's the case the shooting must be. Better than the wash or Kent for that price !
tlennox
I'm in the same boat James, only interested in the marsh, I know there are a lot of birds in that area but it does seem a bit steep for wild fowling.
jamesneale89
Aii it's ridiculous 300 pound for a season you could join all the clubs around the wash for that, you found out any info regarding these?

You definatly couldnt join all the wash clubs for that much
tlennox
No but you could get a decent amount of wild fowling for a lot less.

jamesneale89
But 300 for one marsh is a lot of money and the area isn't expansive for 300 you could join solway lindisfarne and a few clubs on wash for that, and I think that cowpen marsh doesn't hold a lot of fowl either, more info off the lad who started this link would be appreciated like
ayano3
But if that's local to you its not costing the earth in fuel and you will get to know flight lines etc. Travel to the wash and it will be a lottery if you see anything. Its hard enough if you live local.
jamesneale89
Aii I've got a mate who's a member of a private in down wash it cost him 5k for a lifetime membership an I go down for a week once a season for £6 a day but I don't mid the fees cos its local just would like info on the size of the marsh an the wildfowling they do have so I see what I'm getting for the fees
xav
£300 for a club that offers rough shooting and wildfowling is reasonable
jamesneale89
it is reasonable yes but they dont have an option for just the fowling its either both or nothing , but ive got enough syndicate shooting just want to try more places for fowling and closer too
tlennox
I went to the meeting tonight, the club is good value for money but if it's foreshore shooting you're after then this isn't for you. The marsh is a fresh water marsh and there is a lot of rough shooting. It's what the club has developed into over the years and with BASC membership thrown in I think it looks like a good opportunity.
jamesneale89
It's just the marsh shooting I'm after mate n I'm already a basc member, did they say how big marsh was and bird counts etc?
