Tim_D
Nice one Ron. Got my FAC through yesterday and ordered a Cz452 .22 earlier today so will soon start some more serious bashing myself. How do you find the .17, it's pretty lethal for bunnies isn't it. I was tempted by .17 HMR but it makes too much noise for my permission (which has horses that spook easily in the fields) which requires as little noise as possible so I've got to go .22 subsonic with Moderator. Ferretboy111
Yeh its lethal to bunnys, takes them down with ease. Its abit loud with the moderator on, much louder than a 22 subsonic, but then again can hit bunnys with ease at 100-150yrds I use a combination when im out lamping, have my mate with his .22 for the closer stuff and my .17hmr for the longer stuff and foxes, saves on my ammo costs that way aswell. Im really happy with my cz452, such a light and simple rifle. Alex
Axe
Well done Ron, I have never looked back since getting my .17HMR. What moderator did you fit and how do you find it?

Axe
i got the varmint with the heavy barrel parker hale silencer my mates ust bought a t-3 (i think) silencer if that makes it quieter ill be getting one of those I use the Sak on mine and at £30 it is a very good moderator. I have compared it to a PEZ and there wasnt anything in it. The only other moderator that is appparently slightly better is the ASE Utra, but this is £60 and much heavier. The Sak is very easy to clean too.
ronttuk
axe who makes the sak ??
Axe
I would assume it is SAK as I dont know it as anything else.

Ferretboy111
Yeah ive got the SAK aswell, compared with the ultra its exactly the same in my opinion, just cheaper, how often do you clean the mod axe? I havent as yet, Alex
Axe
Alex, I have cleaned it once since ownership and at that point it had a mixture of 500 rounds of LR and 250 rounds of HMR through it. I now plan to clean it every 500 rounds.
Ferretboy111
Cheers, only shot 50 rounds through it so am ok for a while yet.# Alex
Axe
One thing you might want to do though, is lightly grease between the sleeve and the end rings. This will help you to strip it down when it gets sooted up. Make sure you use gloves.
dunganick
still dont quite get why you lot clean silencers its a rimfire silencer, i have noticed very little difference in accuracy or sound reduction through running a dirty silencer. each to their own though. I also understood that running a .22lr silencer on anything apart from a .22lr without cleaning was considered bad practice due to the unburnt powder the .22lr builds up in the silencer
