cocker3
well with sunday blowing a gale all day i got a text from alan verminator69 to ask if i fanncied a stalk round his bit so agreed to meet at 6.46 pm as i left the house for the 20minute drive to alans it was chucking it down with rain but 10 miles down the road it was dry but still blowing a gale .arrived at alans and we set off for a look around we checked a few spots alan had seen bucks in but with the wind blowing so hard most bucks were tucked up in cover . we parked the car down in the lakes and alan said he thought he new where there would be roe out feeding so we set off along a track that runs along the side of one of the lakes about 100 yards along we bounced a doe and she took off along the wood we stopped to let her settle and after 10 minutes we carried on . we walked a further 50 yards and alan slipped up to the dyke wall on our right we gad to walk through a small strip of wood with twigs snapping under foot all the way but with the wind anything up wind would never hear us coming .we got to the dyke wall and alan spotted the doe standing in a young plantaion we could see two more roe but could not see what they were at first then the roe closest to us moved and it was a nice 6 pointer they were feeding in with the banking behind them sheltering them from the wind i got set up on the dyke wall and was sure the buck had seen me moving but he then dropped to his knees and lay down with a tree protector pipe slap bang infront of his chest kneck area no shot on there then i he stood up alan told me from where he was he could see the whole neck so i moved back for a look the neck shot was no and being prity setteles where he was i was very confident i could get the shot off i put the cross hair on his neck about three inches below his jaw and sent a 55 gr sako down the tube he never even flinched and rolled over we pulled his puddins out and went back for the car we han a look round and found a few more does but the weather was closing in on us. as we walked through another wood we bounce a couple of yearling does and then found a fox set that will be getting sortedout very soon i am sure by this time it was getting dark and we headed back to the farm just in time for the heavens to open big time so another great night stalking with good company and a great laugh cheers gaji Edited May 15, 2012 by cocker3
