chrisjpainter
So, I've been thinking about this a lot and not sure whether it's worth it? Seen a lot of guns around with camo tape in all kinds of places on their guns, and other people that don't bother at all! Your thoughts would be most welcome ladies and gentlemen! bedwards1966
I've never done it or thought it necessary (after all I'd say it's movement that quarry sees, not the pattern on a gun), but then I suppose that if someone dresses themselves up head to toe in cammo then it would be daft not to include the gun too. Some people probably think it looks better too. And some people will simply buy it because it exists. NIGHT SEARCHER
I bought a BSA super star that was all camo tape what a **** to get off and the glue it left behind I had to re-finish the stock and i striped the gun and had it re blued . There are two types of tape cloth and plastic the cloth is the best because it will give a bit. I have only used tape once. I had a gun that the blueing on the air tube and barrel was so good it used to cause glare on to the scope lens on a bright day or when out lamping . So i taped the air tube and barrel it did cut down on the glare but i soon fell out with it and took it of and i just put an old black sock over the air tube and barrel and that worked better and no glue or mess and i can still pop the sock off and clean and oil the gun and drool over the gorgeous deep blueing .Happy
Amazed
I did have a go at putting some on but it looked **** so I took it all off and binned the 5 es worth of tape lol. my mrs taking the **** didn't help. She said the rabbits will think you look nice all dressed up and your gun too Owww you bitch ! Lol
Sharpshooter.123
I used to tape my moderator but I don't think it makes any difference. The only time I use it on my mods now is if I'm using my lamp clipped on my scope and it takes the glare off
Aaz
It makes a massive difference when after corvids, reduces glare, anything out of the norm and they're of like a shot. For coneys and pigeons etc. I'm not sure if it makes any difference as movement is the key.
secretagentmole
For less hassle may I introduce the Magic Shroud of Concealment.... Bit of Scrim net, some velcro, pack of Jack Pyke 3d Camo leaves, a bit of time sewing, very effective... Easily removable, but breaks up shape as well as colour! chrisjpainter
mmm, thanks for the responses! think I might just get myself some shroud netting instead! I'm a bit of a traditionalist and love the aesthetics of a good well looked after wooden stock. Mostly I shoot rabbits and squizzers; any corvid shooting I do is round buildings anyway so there are nice dark barns to lurk in then anyway. To me, it seems that movement is the key for bunny-bashing. As long as I'm not wearing a nice, bright blue and white Reading FC shirt, they tend not to be concerned! miller86
I think it's all down to taste, I got bored bought a beech stock put my walnut one away and did a hydro dip on the stock looks good and when bored of that I'll rub it down and change the pattern, and still got the walnut if I want to sell or px the s410 one day ( doubt it)
chrisjpainter
I know of a man who hydrodipped his shotgun (why?) and then went out on a grouse shoot. without a dog to retrieve he put his gun down, went out to pick up a brace came back and couldn't remember where he was standing and never found his gun! looked for two hours, but came up with nothing. too well camouflaged... kitchy
the only guns i like camo tape on is that jack pike stuff that looks like a pot on your lwg and dosent leave no clag behind and i think its only good on rapid 7 or air ranger something with a big bottle then you can rest the bottle on stuff with out scratching it
Smecky
Hi there What I have done is use an old pair of dpm trousers! Cut the leg off same size as gun, cut holes for scope! Works a treat! 👍

Works a treat! 👍 This is a super idea...if only i had some old DPM trousers! Think SAM's plan might be the way to go - cheap and seems break up the outline nicely, which is gotta be useful! take a look at this not tried it myself but looks good it http://www.camoit.co.uk/. will protect your stock and is meant to be easy to remove. Yeah I've seen this done before and it does look brilliant, but £50 + P&P? seems a bit steep to me. will have a think though!
