al4x
where remi 700's are concerned I think you can get more than you pay for, I've got one couldn't give it away so it stayed. I've got a mate who will have it when his renewal comes up but till then I'll keep using it they simply do what they are meant to in a functional way. The good thing with .243's is there are a lot of little used ones out there as some just use them on deer, mine does a lot of foxes so gets used a fair bit but its the plus point of a caliber most people don't use on the range as thats the way most clock up large round counts. WGD
Get a .243, find a round it likes and get out there and do some shooting. You will have to spend some serious time behind the rifle before you are worrying about taking shots at +200 yards in a live situation, and if you are having to then it would be better to reassess your fieldcraft than improve your shooting. I have a .243 I live in Scotland. I shoot everything from fox cubs to red stags with 100gn Federal Power Shok soft points, I see no need to change because they go where I intend to put them and they work. Same here, years ago I used mine for everything from rabbit destruction to hind culls. But I reloaded. Hornady 100grn PSP think they are called SST now and a case full of lovely old H4350. Use to watch the needles come out the far side, the red would trot off a few yards stop and keel over. Roe just dropped. For rabbit and sub 200yd fox destruction I used (at the time)a cheap Sierra 60grn and 16grn of H4227.(my load, don't come blaming me!) I'm rambling again,, nurse, nurse,,,, U.
