moor man
Hi, has anyone adjusted parallax on the object lens of a scope? Need some advice before I attempt to adjust Leupold vari x ii 3-9x50. What tools are required, method etc. Thanks...
Catweazle
I have adjusted the parallax on a Leupold VXIII. You have to loosen the end ring of the scope first, then adjust the lens carrier ring. Be aware, the end ring on my Leup was very, very tight - I was having kittens. I used a device called a Boa, from Halfords, it's a reinforced rubber band designed for removing oil-filters. Unless you're really sure you need to do it, don't risk damaging the scope. There is a close-focus adapter available for Leups.
moor man
Thanks for the heads up, did you use a tool to adjust the lens carrier? I will proceed with caution cheers moor man.

The lens carrier can be adjusted by hand, it moves slowly because it has sealing grease on the threads ( keeps nitrogen in and water out so never screw the carrier right out ). You won't have to move the lens carrier much, mark it so you can go back if needed.
kent
In fairness no point, far better to sort a consistant head posision.

I disagree, when I altered mine it was mounted on a sub12 PCP air rifle used mainly for hunting squirrels in close cover. The shots needed precision from a variety of angles and positions, and I needed all the clarity and brightness I could get ( hence 50mm lens ). Adjusting the parallax improved matters considerably.
