Shooting over livestock

Now guys, I've got a new permission shooting corvids, pigeons and hares over stubble turnips. Thing is the farmer has sheep on it but he says it's still ok to shoot. Do any of you shoot over stock? And apart from the obvious picking up carts and using fibre wads are there any other tips you could give and will the sheep trample my deeks when set out? Cheers

I have once had to chase some Cheeky lambs away that were chewing on my decoys. Must have looked a right cock, running around shooing the cute little lambs away dressed in full Camo with gun over my arm!

Other than the obvious of not shooting anything with sheep directly behind it, in my experience shooting didn't seem to bother them. I assumed that once I got started they would clear off but they barely moved. Just a few bleats after each shot.

Probably a good idea not to shoot near sheep that are in lamb, I'm sure if they all miscarried the farmer wouldn't be best pleased

Have you fired the gun near them to make sure it doesnt startle them, sheep are not the smartest animals and if scared can and will run through fences etc. I shoot with our cows in field and the gun going off doesnt even get there attention, and one always seems to come and sniff the deeks even picks one up annoying cow lol.

In my experience sheep don't seem to care about shooting, bullocks and cows can be inquisitive nuisances, pigs will eat anything you shoot and horses are a nightmare.

To keep up with modern trends I should also mention that alpacas don't seem to mind.

Use fibre wads and be careful to pick up all your empties and other bits.

Most of our shooting takes place among livestock of one sort or another. As long as you're not using them as a back stop they don't seem bothered. At this time of year the female of any species are wary of the dogs, but we keep them to the edges of fields, and stock seem to get used to them eventually.

Sheep are a real pain on a rough shoot,as you can guarantee they will walk directly in front of you and spook everything well out of range.

Been out this morning, the sheep we're not a problem for the first couple of hours them they started munching there way towards my deeks. I had my back to them and when they got Inline with me I got uP to shoo them on. On doing this the field to my right behind a hedge erupted with pigeons, I had not seen them dropping into this field of laid barley. The field has a banger in it so they can't be too bothered about nice. Off to see the farmer tomorrOw to see who rents it. Could be another permission in the game bag
