Devilishdave
I can vouch for the top boots being a good practical boot. They normaly last me 3 years wearing them 5 days a week. Not sure about the ones below I had the model before them and the current ones and they are both very good boots for the money. Dave

Lancs Lad
no way m8, anyway, they are sold pending pick up Firstly, the standard british army boots are ****e..................Take it from me......they have no water repellant capabilites, are cold when wet, and take an age to dry... I live in them for weeks, out in the field and immersion foot aint that nice,,where your feet look like they are dead.... The pro boot are a good boot, the thinsulate lining could do with being a bit thicker.........No problems with water ingress due to them having a goretex liner... BUt for 80 quid as second hand.......you need to drop your price by about half...A quick search on ebay can find you picking up used pro boots for about 30 dabs...........thats where I got mine... As for them being top of the range - you would want to look at lundhags, or a nice set of Danners....now those are boots......

Mungler
didnt your mother teach you that its unlucky to put new shoes on the table? It is a very old superstition, is considered very bad luck and foretells death. Why, I don't know - stick it into Google. One version I heard was that it was hanging related - something along the lines that if you were a convict about to get your neck stretched as part of your final attire you were given new shoes (I think these must have been loaners and not for keepsies). The other version I have heard which maybe more logical is that in the very old days when everything was in black and white, the leather tanning process required the leather be treated with all sorts of nasties (including number 1's and number 2's) and therefore sticking new shoes on the old kitchen table was likely to give you a touch of the runnies - which back in the old days probably meant cholera. Incidentally, new shoes on the table is like a four of a kind / royal flush in terms of back luck.

He was addressing the point as he sees it as a soldier and one who has to rely on these boots (or fork out for better ones himself). However, the relatively light use they will get from shooting or cadets should not affect them and they will last ages. ZB PS, the bit about putting polish on the boots reminded me of when we used to get the cadet summer camps coming onto garrison. At least once, every year, you would see some tearful cadet Cpl or Sgt getting beasted to the guardroom after trying to pick up one of the regular toms for his boots/hair/uniform . Bless em all!
