Stealth Stalker
I was ummming & aaahhhing about going out today, looking at the weather forecast, things didn't look good. After reading the posts about the £15 woodpigeon, that spurred me on & I could see out the office window that the birds were about. I kitted up and got out on to the stubbles to see the farmer ploughing up one of the fields & chatting to him he reckoned the whole lot was gonna be ploughed by the weekend I set up a couple of fields away where I know there to be 2 flightlines. Set up by 13.15 with the wind in my back & a rather splendid horseshoe pattern of deeks, headed by a flapper & rotary to the left. After an hour I'd shot 15 birds for 22 carts, they were decoying beautifully, coming straight in to the head of the pattern. I even managed a right & left, something that has evaded me for 7 months I ended the day with 49 birds on the clicker Only picked 42 though due to the dog being rested after an injury to her paw The weather held out for the best part of the day, until it was time to pack up, got soaked, but didn't care.
